In February 1974, Former Ugandan Ambassador to Russia under the Idi Amin government, Lt. Col. Michael Ondoga, was abducted one morning at Kitante Primary School never to be seen alive again. The kidnap happened in broad daylight in front of all the parents and children as Ondoga dropped his daughter off to school. Immediately the allegations were that President Idi Amin had murdered Ondoga because of tribal issues. Many do not know that the teacher of Ondoga's daughter at this school was actually working clandestinely for a terrorist group led by Yoweri Museveni, something that she herself has revealed. Recently, when Peace (Ondoga's daughter) was asked if she remembered the woman in this picture here, she immediately recalled her. For the record, this photo was taken a few days before Ondoga's heinous abduction, which was Peace's last day at this particular school. So much so that our elections are still archaically conducted in plastic basins in the 21st century just like Obote first prescribed in 1980. As African leaders meet at the AU summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, my humble advice to them us to put aside until further notice all the toxic issues that divide us, and focus instead  on building what unites us. And what else can currently unite us more than the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement, African leaders need to radically abandon the colloquial belief that the continents development happens through foreign direct investment, foreign aid, and the counter-productive economic policies directed to us from overseas in exchange for World bank loans. One of the problems we have across society and at all levels of public administration is people leading by intimidation and not by excellence and work. Even police brutality is based on that premise. 99.99% of Ugandans have been raised to believe that corporal punishment is the solution, not knowing that it limits people psychologically to believing in fear. Personnally I was never subjected to corporal punishment my entire life, and notice that the most advanced societies do not have corporal punishment as a social norm like we here in Africa. Because what it does is create a society where people only do anything properly when there is a threat of punishement, and not out of any habit of doing things properly with attention to detail. Even the idea that people are being tortured and abducted today to unknown locations, is based on the common idea of "teaching them a lesson" rather than prosecuting them for a crime. In African village tradition, when you enter the bathroom and find that the housemaid has already put your fathers warm bathing water there, you turn back and wait until the father has finished bathing.
